Santa Fe, New Mexico — How often do we have to choose between excellent beer or excellent food? Winos expect the two to be combined. Beer (hop) lovers are often still struggling as restaurants are still managed often as not by beer illiterates.
Sleeping Dog has five – 5 – V – one more than four IPA’s on offer. Bliss, beer dreamland, epicenter of gastronomic fluid and food delight.
In case it isn’t apparent, I should point out that I like this place.
Resting in the basement of one of those Santa Fe places, the tavern is just a block from the famous Plaza. I love wandering round chatting with the Indians selling their art in this ancient architectural historic fest. So much to catch the eye and then – Sleeping Dog .
Marble Brewery IPA – on tap is crisp, citrus nosed full bodied – not over the top at 6.2% by volume and I guess – 58 IBU’s. A delight.
In bottle they have Speckled Hen, Steelhead, Arrogant Bastard, SKA Decadent, Avery, Doggy Style. These people know beer!
The person who chooses the beer menu, for once at a good restaurant understands beer – oh what a beer lover. I didn’t notice if they have Coors or Bud Lite on the beer menu for those who don’t like hops – I suspect they do.
My wife tells me that the wine selection is as good as the beer menu and the prices were moderate – for Santa Fe. The food is superb. I had duck.
Not much more to say – is there?
